The Korea Railroad Corporation recommends three trekking destinations around the Incheon International Airport Railroad for families and couples to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather.

Coastal trekking on Jangbongdo Island
Jangbongdo Island has become one of the busiest islands since the Airport Railway opened. In the past, travelers used to schedule their visit to the island for two days. Today, the island is easily accessible, allowing visitors to take a one-day trip by using Unseo Station on the Incheon International Airport Railroad. Along the long stretch of the island, there is an 8.1-kilometer long trekking course along the mountain ridge that attracts many trekkers. Recently, a new 2.1-kilometer long coastal trekking course was opened for visitors to allow them to enjoy a beautiful coastal walk.
It takes 15 minutes from Unseo Station to Sammok Quay, from where you can get to Jangbongdo Island. After boarding the ship, it takes 40 minutes to reach Ongam Quay on Jangbongdo Island, passing Sindo Island, Sido Island and Modo Island. The local bus waits for the arrival of the ship’s passengers, so it is convenient for travelers to get around the island without cars.

The coastal trekking on the island provides a lot more joy than you may expect. When the tide ebbs, you can enjoy picking up trumpet shells and conches on the tidal flats. The short ravine, sea cave, and the eccentrically shaped rocks are reminiscent of Jurassic Park. In particular, the unique rocks and stones, as if the waves were themselves as hard as stone, elicit great surprise from visitors. Just like the rocky sea cliff in Chaeseokgang on Byeonsan Peninsula, the wrinkled rocks and stones which have been piled up on the island over a long period of time are appreciated as a great masterpiece of nature.
Trekking along the 2.1-kilometer long coastal course, you will be indulged with a clear sky, fresh air and the beautiful surrounding scenery.

※ How to get to Jangbongdo Island
Unseo Station, Incheon International Airport Railroad ~ take Bus no. 222-1 across the street (40 minutes past every hour) ~ from Sammok Quay (10 minutes past every hour), take the ship bound for Jangbongdo Island – every hour on the hour
