Climbing In Korea
Friends, Romans, countrymen, (and CIKers!) ,lend me your ears;
The year is at end. It has been a year dominated by the story of who would be elected as the next occupant of The White House.
But forget all that, let's go visit The BLUE house!
That's right. What better way to end the year than enjoying the scenic panoramic views of Seoul and joining CIK on a historic and relaxing hike along the fortress wall of Inwangsan and Bugaksan.
A vast clear blue winter sky is above you, the winter breeze gently touches your cheeks giving them a cheerful rosy hue. You chat about various events of the year gone by with your hiking companions as you take in the views of Korea's capital city, including Korea's own color-themed house of government, The Blue House.
On Saturday, December 31st we will be going on a trek to the fortress wall of Inwangsan and Bugaksan. The entire trek up and back may take 4 hours. Continuing upwards, you will pass various rock formations before finding the historic Seoul Fortress wall. Once on top of the mountain, you’re treated with amazing panoramic views. It will be mostly walking, so beginners are welcome to join us! It's a great way to break in the new year!
Don’t Forget Your Passport(or ARC): Hikers to the Bugaksan trails must present either their passport or identification card at the entrance to the hiking area. The security measures are necessary due to Cheongwha-dae Presidential Mansion in front of Bugaksan.
Meeting Place: Dongnimmun Stn on line 3(stn # 326), exit 1.
Date and Time: December 31st , Saturday at 10:45am
What to bring: Passport(ARC), food(snacks), plenty of hot water, extra warm clothing for the cold, money for dinner, etc.
LIABILITY: While CIK is very considerate of the needs of its members, we cannot be held responsible for a hikers possessions, health, and/or safety so we highly recommend that you have your own personal form of medical insurance prior to attending all outings.
We hope to see you there!
